
Zygmunt Bauman
Zygmunt Bauman was born on November 19, 1925 in Poznań, Poland. He is a Polish-British sociologist. Since 1971, he has lived in Great Britain. He was driven out of Poland by an anti-Semitic campaign. Bauman is famous for his analyses of the links between modernity and the Holocaust, and of postmodern consumerism. Bauman is the father of the term ‘solid’ or ‘liquid’ modernity which according to him characterizes the present condition of modern society.
