What is Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
Value Stream Mapping (VSM), sometimes the term Value Stream Analysis is used. It is an analytical technique, which is one of the basic techniques of the Lean philosophy. Value Stream Mapping technique is used for mapping the value chain in the manufacturing and administrative processes.

Value Stream Mapping (VSM), sometimes it is also used the term Value Stream Analysis. It is an analytical technique, which is one of the basic techniques of the Lean philosophy. Value Stream Mapping technique is used for mapping the value chain in the manufacturing and administrative processes. It uses a graphical display of the flow value (flow value visualization), which can be financial, material, information or other and it helps deeper understanding of the entire flow of the production processes that pass through the entire organization and its relation to the organizational management system, planning and customer requirements.

Use of the Value Stream Mapping in practice: VSM as a detailed visualization of the processes allows management to identify the causes of unnecessary waste of resources (time, labor, material, information, or financial resources). Value Stream Mapping techniques are used by professionals who have a responsibility for improving processes or quality management in the organization. VSM helps detect potential losses, bottlenecks, weaknesses, and reasons for inefficient flow anywhere in the organization. It can be applied to the entire organization or just to a particular part, taking advantage of the process map.
