Teambuilding (sometimes also Team building) is a type of experiential education focused on the team creation or development, teamwork and training of important team skills, such as communication, teamwork or collective overcoming of obstacles and finding effective solutions to individual problems. Among other goals of the teambuilding programs belong mutual deeper understanding of the working group members, strengthen the cohesion of the team and team spirit. Teambuilding is usually done through the off the job training method, usually as an outdoor training - a set of interconnected, mostly outdoor activities, taking place mostly in the countryside, outside the workplace. But it can be also carried out in indoor form.
In the teambuilding, the methods of the experiential education are used (learning form the consequences of own action - see Kolb’s learning cycle).
Use of the Teambuilding in practice: Teambuilding is in practice used by the management of the organization, enterprises, etc. for improving the employees performance, increasing communication and dynamics of teams, awareness of the role of individual workers and improving work and interpersonal relationships in the workplace. In particular, increasing the communication and positive action of work teams or individuals. The benefit is a creative practice through intensive learning from experience, identifying strengths and weaknesses of the team and individuals, staff motivation and increasing productivity and effective collaboration. Inclusion of the teambuilding activities, as well as other forms of education are usually in the responsibility of the CHRO (Chief Human Resources Officer).
