SA 8000 is a globally recognized certification standard of corporate social responsibility. The SA8000 standard is not one of the ISO standards, but it is issued by non-governmental international organization Social Accountability International (SAI), headquartered in New York, USA.
Use of the SA 8000 in practice: SA 8000 standard is intended for all types of organizations, regardless of their size or location. It is designed to certify the organization’s ability to meet the requirements of social responsibility. The certificate may be issued only by an independent certification body which is accredited by SAI.
SA 8000 standard is closely linked to non-certification standard ISO 26000.
