Promotion means the dissemination of an information about something to putting the subject of the promotion (product, service, event, fact, etc.) to be known. The promotion is part of the marketing activities of the business or organization. There are two basic types of promotion, namely:
- Indirect promotion which goes acrros the board (not on a specific customer) to the target group of potential customers. Among indirect promotion belongs varius promotion events (such as presentation, seminar, exhibition, networking), flyers, catalogs, brochures, websites, advertising
- Direct promotion which goes directly to the specific customer, usually follows the indirect promotion. The direct promotion includes direct adress of the customer by letter, leaflet, telephone call, e-mail, etc.
Use of the promotion in practice: promotion is one the key activites of the marketing. According to the needs of the organization and nature of the target group, it should be chosen a suitable from of promotion. The marketing specialist, product manager or marketing manager are the responsible persons in larger organizations. In a smaller organization this field is in responsibility of the sales manager. After selecting the appropriate form of the promotion, the organization usually hires specialized companies.
