
Philip E. Vernon
Philip Ewart Vernon was born on June 6, 1905 and died on July 18, 1987. He studied psychology at Cambridge University, where he received his Master’s and doctorate in 1927. He was devoted to intelligence research and came up with his own definition of social intelligence.
In 1949, Vernon was appointed the Professor of Psychology at the Institute of Education, University of London, and was later appointed to a research professorship at the Institute in 1964.
