Operating revenue is the revenue generated by the company’s core business. Operating revenues include:

• Revenue from sales of material products, materials or raw materials
• Revenue from sales of services
• Rental income
• Revenue from business activity (goods or services)

It depends on the sector and type of business. In each industry and every type of business, operating revenues are generated by something else, for example:

• Operating revenues of an engine manufacturer are revenues from the sale of engines
• A bank’s operating revenues include banking service revenues, fees, and other banking products
• Operating revenues of a bus carrier are revenues from sold tickets
• Operating revenues of a department store is the sum of margins of all products sold
