What is OGC (Office of Government Commerce)
OGC was founded to help the British government to ensure the best possible added value of government spending.

OGC (Office of Government Commerce) was an independent office of the British Treasury. Today, its activities are part of the British Cabinet Office. OGC was founded to help the British government to ensure the best possible added value of government spending. OGC worked with the central government and other public sector organizations in order to help them achieve six key objectives:

  • Creating high added value of funding from public funds
  • Delivery of high quality projects within the specified time, quality and cost, including the corresponding benefits
  • The best use of state property
  • Improve the sustainability of government property and the entire operation with improved performance of management and leadership
  • Support the achievement of other government objectives, including innovation, equality and support to small and medium-sized enterprises
  • Promote and improve the ability of government in procurement, project and program management, asset management through the development of human skills, improving processes and using tools.

Cabinet Office (formerly OGC) also publishes a number of standards and best practice in the field of management:

  • PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environment)
  • MSP (Programme Management)
