KET (Key English Test) is an English exam that is focused on general knowledge in English. KET is the first, basic level among Cambridge Certificates. It is focused on beginners who are able to handle basic situations, basic English communications and basic vocabulary. KET Test can be handled after about 180-200 hours of study.
Use of the KET Certificate in practice: KET Certificate is internationally and generally recognized. Given that the KET is basic level of general English, it is usually not sufficient for practical use. KET certificate is designed for people who need to acquire basic English in daily life or at work, and does not meet the requirements for admission to universities in English speaking countries.
KET certificate applicant can take the exam in one of the authorized centers (see BEC). The KET roughly corresponds to level A2 according to CEFR.
