What is ISO 21500 Project Management
ISO 21500 is a new standard, which was prepared to build on the existing ISO 10006, and will take the form of guide to project management.

ISO 21500 (Guidance on Project Management) is not a management method, it is an international standard. ISO 21500 is a new standard, which was prepared to build on the existing ISO 10006, and will take the form of a guide to project management. Unlike ISO 10006 it provides a much more comprehensive approach to project management. ISO 21500 is part of the family of international standards issued by ISO (International Organization for Standardization).

Preparatory Technical Committee with a designation ISO/PC 236 dealt with the preparation of ISO 21500. In the committee there were experts from 36 countries. ISO 21500 is based on existing standards, and is targeted for organizations of all sizes, for all sectors and industries. It is intended for the relative novice of project management or as a practical tool for experienced professionals.

The preparations started in the autumns of 2007, and it was issued on August 31, 2012.
