What is FCE (First Certificate in English)
FCE (First Certficate in English) is an English exam that is focused on general knowledge in English. FCE is the most widespread of Cambridge Certificates. It is focused on intermediates who are able to handle considerable language knowledge, solve in English different situations, change the communication style and have a large vocabulary.

FCE (First Certificate in English) is an English exam that is focused on general knowledge in English. FCE is the most widespread of Cambridge Certificates. It is focused on intermediates who are able to handle considerable language knowledge, solve in English different situations, change the communication style and have a large vocabulary. Part of the preparation for FCE Test are also polite conventions in expression and an interview, writing a letter and a phone interview.

FCE is by the level of difficulty equivalent to the Business English BEC Preliminary and corresponds to level B2 according to CEFR.

Use of the FCE Certificate in practice: FCE Certificate is internationally and generally recognized. However it is focused on general English, it is recognized as an alternative to business English BEC Vantage. FCE is one of the middle level of general English which can be requested as a qualification requirement for the employee or a specific profession or job for which the English knowledge is not essential. PET certificate increases the value of the candidate in the labor market.

FCE certificate is designed for people who need to use English in daily life, work or during their studies at universities.

FCE certificate applicant can take the exam in one of the authorized centers (see BEC). Prerequisite for good preparation for the FCE is about 500 to 600 hours of study. The PET roughly corresponds to level B2 according to CEFR.
