Database in practice: Databases are the source of data for applications - enable the data to be processed and searched. Virtually every application uses a database.
Databases are managed using database management systems. In practice, database is sometimes referred incorrectly or simply to these data management systems, because they are always associated with “their” specific database.

Users do not need to know how what database or what data management system their application uses, it is a matter of software developers and system administrators.
