Competency is a term designating the assumptions for a job, activity, situation or profession specific person. It is therefore the ability of a particular person to do the job or master the situation or profession.
Managing competencies in practice
The assessment of competency of a particular person is part of the assessment of his suitability for a particular job, activity or profession. Competency may be assessed by HR specialists when analyzing people’s work, and especially by managers who know comprehensive competences, behavior, experiences or attitudes of their subordinates.
