With its more than 3,200 students, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is one of the lar­gest faculties within the VSB - Technical University of Ostrava. The real foundations of the Faculty were established in 1970 with the opening of the first independent year of studies in the field of high-voltage electrical engineering. On January 1, 1991 the Faculty of Electrical Engineering was established after the division of the Mechanical and Electro-Engineering Faculty. On September 1, 1993 the name was changed to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
