Clomid is a fertility drug prescribed to women who have had ovulatory failure yet are unable to conceive naturally. Because of its versatility, clomid can be used either on its own or in combination with other therapies. Clomid belongs to a group of medications called selective estrogen receptor modulators.

Clomid is sometimes used as a therapy for women who have problems ovulating. Starting Clomid is only recommended after all other possible reasons of infertility have been eliminated or adequately treated. Patients with amenorrhea-galactorrhea syndrome, psychogenic amenorrhea, post-oral contraceptive amenorrhea, polycystic ovary syndrome, and certain cases of secondary amenorrhea of unclear etiology have responded well to clomiphene treatment.
