Career is a term used in human resources management to refer to an individual’s professional career, whether lifetime or a certain part of his life. It is a move towards to another status (social and in organizational structure) or a different job position, another social status associated with another prestige, share of power, income, etc.
Career begins when an individual enters the labor market and he attempts to gain some prestige there.
Use of the career in practice: The term career is often limited to be seen as only a upward career of an individual. But the career may have also a downward trend. This is a term to describe a summary of the status development in the organization from the beginning to the given moment. The individual’s career is affected by many factors - personal (individual abilities, skills, education, etc.) but also other circumstances in the organization (status and capabilities of others, economic and social situation in the organization and other).
