
August Comte
August Comte was born on January 17, 1798 in Montpellier, France and died on September 5, 1857. He shortly studied at École Polytechnique but because of his protests against the antiquated methods of teaching was excluded. In the period 1817-1824 worked with Henri de Saint-Simon. At that time, his idea to reorganize society on the basis of science was born.
He later formulated the ideas in the book Cours de philosophie positive. Today it is considered the founder of sociology and philosophical direction of positivism.
