Antivirus is security software designed to protect data against attacks or risks of various forms, particularly against viruses. Antivirus programs can protect the system in different ways:
- Monitors the system and search for known viruses
- Scans system and individual files and search for unusual behavior
Antivirus programs mostly monitors data and user behavior in real time. Detected virus can be then blocked or entirely deleted. Antivirus programs can also send suspicious files for analysis (to the producers of antivirus program).
Use of the antivirus programs in practice: Antivirus can be installed either on the terminal device (e.g. PC, mobile device) or under any of the active networking hardware or network infrastructure. It can therefore protect individual devices or entire corporate network. In practice, organizations typically use a combination of both methods of protection. Antivirus in practice, is also combined with other security software such as antivirus software, antispyware, and more.
Trend is an antivirus program integrated into the Internet Security Suites that bring together multiple elements of protection against malicious software, and behavior.
