Anthony Athos was born in 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, USA and died in 2002 in San Francisco, California, USA. He received his MBA and Ph.D. from Harvard University.
Athos is a co-author, together with Richard Pascale, of the bestselling book “Art of Japanese Management”, which was published in 1981. The book introduced the McKinsey 7S framework, one of the important models of critical success factors.
Tom Peters and Robert H. Waterman, Jr. were further involved in the model. They later published the book “In Search of Excellence”.
At the time of the framework development, they all worked at the consulting company McKinsey (hence its name).
