Andragogy deals with adult education and all that goes with it. It is the applied science of the education of adults, which respects the peculiarities associated with it. It deals mainly with socialization, personalization and acculturation and enculturation. The term andragogy originated from the need to distinguish adult education from the children education (on which the pedagogy is primarily focused). In practice, it is not distinguished this strictly and the concept of pedagogy is used in a broader sense, i.e. it includes also the adult education. A key theme that andragogy deals with, it is a motivation of the adult student through activities and self-reliance, continuous positive evaluation and dispersion of fear of failure. The difference it is the respect for the ego and personal experiences that distinguish adults from children.
The term andragogy was first used by German pedagogist Alexandr Kapp in 1833.
Use of the andragogy in practice: Andragogy is actually focused on lifelong learning and adult education. For organizations providing educational services for adults, andragogy is a scientific discipline that helps to create and customize educational, learning and adaptation processes for workers in organizations.
