Matrix organizational structure (also project structure) is one of the types of the formal organizational structure. The basis of the organizational structure is a classic vertial linear structure, which is combined with a horizontally functioning ad-hoc generated teams dedicated to special projects. The matrix organizational structure is necessary in a project-oriented organizations.
For different projects are created different project teams with different managers and different roles of individual workers nominated into individual teams.
